Mani Ratnam’s magnum opus, Ponniyin Selvan -1(PS-1) has been making all the right noises. Ever since the first look posters of the star studded ensemble cast was shared online, they have ignited discussions across social media platforms. Latest on the list is the poster of Trisha Krishnan as Kundavai. And the poster has caught the eye of fans and celebrities including Trisha’s PS-1 co-star Karthi, who plays the role of Vanthiyathevan in the film. Responding to Trisha’s poster, Karthi wrote, “Iḷavaraci! Please send me a live location, unkal annanin olaiyai drop off pannanum. (Princess. Please send me a live location, I have to drop off a message to your brother).

But not one to take the bait, Trisha replied, “Sorry aramanayil, smart phones and smart people are not allowed. (Smartphones and smart people are not allowed in the palace).”

Sharing her post on Twitter, Trisha said, “In a world of men, a woman of courage. Presenting Princess Kundavai. PS1 releasing in theatres on September 30 in Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada,”  tagging Mani Ratnam and music director AR Rahman. In the poster, Trisha is dressed in royal garb with stone-studded jewellery.

Previously, Karthi’s poster was also shared on social media. In it, the actor is riding a horse. “The Prince without a kingdom, the spy, the swashbuckling adventurer…here comes Vanthiyathevan!” the character’s introduction reads.

This was followed by the poster of Aishwarya Rai as Nandini, touted to be the chief antagonist in the film. “Vengeance has a beautiful face! Meet Nandini, the Queen of Pazhuvoor,” read the tweet attached to the poster.

Also, in the film is Vikram as Aditya Karikalam. “Welcome the Chola Crown Prince.. The Fierce Warrior. The Wild Tiger. Aditya Karikalan,” the note read.

Now, on Friday, the poster of Jayam Ravi as the titular character Ponniyin Selvan has been released with the caption, “Hail the Visionary Prince, the Architect of the Golden Era, the Great Raja Raja Chola…introducing Ponniyin Selvan.”

The film is based on the classic Tamil novel Ponniyin Selvan by writer Kalki.
