“Telangana is a very strong player in electronics and IT. Today, 25% of the TV sets produced in India come from Telangana. We have a very strong presence but our ambition is larger. We want to become the Shenzhen of India for electronics,” KTR told envoys of various countries at a diplomatic outreach programme conducted at the newly opened T-Hub phase II.
“Telangana is home to one-third the global vaccine supply with 9 billion doses being produced here per annum. The largest number of USFDA approved manufacturing facilities for any single province at over 250 are located in Telangana, while the second largest number of units are in New Jersey, US. Telangana is India’s life sciences hub and an important node in the sector globally,” he said.
Pointing out that Telangana is also emerging as an aerospace & defence powerhouse, KTR said: “US president Joe Biden’s helicopter cabin is made right here in Telangana by Sikorsky in joint venture with Tata Advanced Systems Ltd, LEAP engines are being manufactured here, world class fighter jet empenages and fuselages for Apache choppers are being manufactured in Telangana.”
He said India’s youngest state has emerged as the 12th largest in geographical size out of India’s 28 states and 11th largest in terms of population. State’s GSDP has gone up 130% to 11.55 lakh crore as of March 31, 2022, from 5.06 lakh crore in 2014, per capital income has risen from 1.24 lakh to 2.8 lakh, he said.
