The picture was taken when Uma and her colleagues paid a visit to Telangana State Public Service Academy.

A wholesome photo of a trainee IAS officer and her police officer father has won a million hearts online. The photo shows N Venkateshwarulu who is Telangana’s Deputy Director of the State Public Service Academy, saluting his daughter, N Uma Harathi. The picture was taken when Uma and her colleagues paid a visit to the Academy for a seminar. A retired IAS officer Ratna Prabha shared the photo on X and wrote, “Ms Umaharthi IAS being saluted by her proud father. What a touching moment.” N Uma Harathi, a graduate of IIT Hyderabad with a B.Tech degree, had secured the all India third rank in the 2022 UPSC civil services examination.

As per Moneycontrol, Uma Harathi is taking training at the Marri Chenna Reddy Human Resource Development Institute in Hyderabad, Telangana. The month-long training will end in July.

The picture spread like wildfire on social media platforms. A user said, “What a heartwarming moment This is a testament to the hard work and dedication of Ms Umaharthi IAS, and her proud father’s love and support. It’s moments like these that make all the sacrifices worth it.”

Another person wrote, “This is indeed a great achievement. Kudos to the daughter for making her father very proud. We wish to see the father-daughter duo making positive changes at the root level of our system.”

“Greatest pride for a parent is when the child does well. The greatest joy of my life was when I saw my daughter’s name on the UPSC list. She got AIR 50 in the 2018 exam and is now in the Foreign Service. A proud moment indeed for a father. God bless them,” a comment read.

Calling it a proud moment, a person said, “Congratulations to both Father & Daughter it’s a proud moment, hope the new IAS officer walks with every step of her life with sincerity because ultimately that’s what counts, & makes her entire life even more proud.”

In May 2023, after the civil service exam results were announced, a delighted Uma Harathi credited her father for being her success. She thanked him for “completely and unequivocally” motivating her to pursue the highly competitive exam. Last year about 13 lakh candidates applied for UPSC prelims 2023.
