Telangana: Congress observes Satyagraha demanding Agnipath withdrawal | Hyderabad News

HYDERABAD: Telangana Congress president A Revanth Reddy on Monday demanded that chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao should inform the people of the state about the TRS stand on the policies being pursued by Narendra Modi-government at the centre including the Agnipath scheme.
Revanth and former minister Mohd Ali Shabbir also demanded that CM KCR ensure that a special session of the assembly is convened to pass a resolution against Agnipath scheme.
Telangana Congress members including Bhatti Vikramarka, T Jayaprakash Reddy, Madhu Yashki Goud, Mahesh Kumar Goud, G Niranjan, V Hanumanth Rao, Renuka Choudhary and all the top leaders held peaceful Satyagraha deeksha in all the 119 Assembly constituencies in the state on Monday demanding immediate withdrawal of Agnipath scheme by the central government.
Stating that the Congress will organise protests on July 1 and 2 against Agnipath and rising prices of essential commodities, Revanth demanded that Prime Minister Narendra Modi should apologise to the people of Telangana for his remarks on state formation in Parliament and to the youth for coming out with a short-term Agnipath scheme, before coming to Telangana to participate in the BJP two-day national executive meeting.
“Agnipath scheme has been brought without debating it in the Parliament. The people of the country especially the middle and poorer sections of the society suffered when PM Modi implemented demonetisation without any planning. There are apprehensions that even the short-term Agnipath scheme could hurt the country in the long run,” said Shabbir Ali.
In another development, a large number of members from the TRS and other parties from the Khammam district, including former corporator Ram Murthy Naik, ex-ZPTC Bharathi. They gave a call to the people to defeat the TRS and save Telangana.
Former union minister Renuka Choudhary condemned the alleged attack on the podu women farmers by the forest and police in Bhadradri-Kothagudem and Khammam districts. “CM KCR has failed to fulfil his promise of solving the podu land problem,” she said.
