Telangana CM and TRS president K Chandrasekhar Rao to launch national party? | Hyderabad News

HYDERABAD: After trying to cobble up a front with non-BJP and non-Congress front with various regional parties, TRS president and chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao is planning to float a national party. KCR believes there is a political vacuum in the country and reportedly discussed launching a political party with his party senior leaders, ministers and MLAs in a marathon meeting on Friday night. He reportedly considered names like Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), Jai Bharat and Naya Bharat for his proposed national party.
However, a final decision on the national party at the party extended executive meeting to be held on June 19, which will be attended by all MLAs, MPs and other senior leaders. The decision on the national party is being taken ahead of prime minister Narendra Modi and top BJP coming to Hyderabad for attending BJP national executive meeting on July 2 and 3.
Party sources said political strategist Prashant Kishor reportedly advised the TRS supremo instead of floating a front. He is believed to have told KCR that for influencing the national politics there should be some platform either heading a front or a national party.
Interestingly, Tungaturthy TRS MLA Gadari Kishore wrote an article in a regional daily newspaper during party plenary held in the last week of this April, on converting TRS into a national party by renaming it Bharat Rashtra Samithi. But KCR himself dismissed such advice and said there was no such proposal on the national front.
During Friday’s meeting, the TRS chief reportedly sought opinions of various ministers and leaders on launching a national party, who endorsed the proposal saying both the national parties Congress and BJP failed the country.
“The Congress party could not give a tough fight to BJP in many states elections and even reduced to third or fourth position in some states elections,” KCR said. Though it wanted to float the party before presidential elections, the process of registering a party and finalizing a flag takes time. There was a discussion on continuing TRS at the state level as the party flag and going for BRS at the national level.
KCR has been trying to play a key role in the national politics for the past couple of years and met several leaders like CMs Mamata Banerjee, MK Stalin, Uddhav Thackeray and Hemant Soren, former PM HD Deve Gowda and ex CMs HD Kumara Swamy and Akhilesh Yadav and discussed about floating a third front. Later he said he was not working on an alternative front, but the country needs an alternative agenda.
