Single-use plastic: Outlet fined Rs 20,000 in Hyderabad | Hyderabad News

HYDERABAD: GHMC on Wednesday slapped a 20,000 fine against Pulla Reddy Sweets, Somajiguda, for using single-use plastic for packaging. Around 11am, senior IFS officer Mohan Pargaien tweeted: “It’s more than 6 months since the use of single-use plastic was banned but its compliance needs proactive action and strict implementation of law? This is despite my repeated request to @pullareddysweet Begumpet to discontinue it.”
Mohan tagged the GHMC chief and Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) officials. Soon deputy commissioner of Khairatabad circle and his team inspected the outlet.
By 5pm, he replied to Mohan’s tweet stating, “DC-17 Khairatabad circle inspected Pulla Reddy sweets near CM camp office in Somajiguda along with AMOH (assistant medical officer of health) and found single-use plastic in their shop and imposed a penalty of 20,000 for the first instance and cautioned in future single plastic use shop will be seized by GHMC.”
