Singareni builds its 1st floating solar plant with 5 MW capacity in Hyderabad | Hyderabad News

HYDERABAD: Novus Green Energy Systems Ltd, a Hyderabad-based solar solutions provider, on Saturday said it has installed and synchronised India’s largest floating solar power plant using transparent glass-to-glass modules at the Singareni thermal power plant in Mancherial.
Though the plant has a total capacity of 15 MW (AC) and 19.5 MW (DC), currently only phase-1 with a capacity of 5 MW (AC) and 6.5MW (DC) has been commissioned. Singareni Collieries awarded the project to Novus Green Energy led consortium via e-bidding process.

The solar modules are the first of their kind to be manufactured and used at this scale in India, said Novus Green Energy, adding that these modules, manufactured by it under ‘Make in India’, are more efficient than traditional solar modules.
Novus Green Energy MD Anshuman Yenigalla said the end-to-end manufacturing and execution were done in-house and the overall design was vetted by Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras.
Naveen Vunnam, CEO of consortium partner Ilios Power said the remaining 10MW (AC) and 13.5MW (DC) would be commissioned in the next few months as the technology has now been fully demonstrated on field and the execution process has been streamlined.
The project faced several challenges such as the design and manufacturing of the floating boards by Indian company FloatVolt, which had to meet all testing standards and fix the frameless glass-to-glass modules onto the float boards.
