SEB officials seize 150 kgs of cannabis after hot chase in Andhra Pradesh | Visakhapatnam News


VISAKHAPATNAM: The Special Enforcement Bureau (SEB) personnel chased and caught a car near Hanumanthuwaka Junction in Andhra Pradesh’s Vizag city and seized over 150 kgs of dry cannabis from it.
The smugglers, however, fled abandoning the vehicle.
Acting on a tip-off, the SEB personnel conducted a route watch at Vepagunta junction in the city.
Meanwhile, a car (Maruti Suzuki Breeza) reached the Vepagunta junction and the driver of the car noticed the SEB personnel and managed to escape from the spot he diverted the vehicle towards Adavavaram route.
The enforcement personnel chased the car and tried to intercept the vehicle to nab the accused.
However, the driver of the car accelerated the vehicle towards Hanaumanthawaka junction, where another team of SEB personnel were waiting to intercept the car.
Suspecting that they would land behind the bars, the smugglers traveling in the car abandoned the vehicle near Hanumanthuwaka Junction and fled.
The officials have seized 150 kgs of cannabis worth over Rs20 lakh from the car.
The officials suspect that the contraband was being smuggled from the tribal pockets of ASR district to Vizag city and other destinations.
The city police chief Ch Srikanth said that they have intensified the drives and raids against the ganja smuggling and have been nabbing the accused and seizing the contraband on various occasions for the past few months.
