radisson blu plaza hotel: Drug Bust At Pub: Guests Under Lens | Hyderabad News
Hyderabad: Police plan to question some guests who were present during the cocaine bust at The Pudding and Mink pub in Radisson Blu Plaza Hotel who allegedly have a history of narcotics consumption.
Cops said that at the time of the raid on the pub on April 3, 2022, there were 148 persons including guests, managers and staff. So far, four people have been named as accused and two have been arrested — M Anil Kumar, manager of the pub; and Abhishek Vuppala, partner at the pub. The two other partners, Arjun Veeramachaneni and Kiran Raju are absconding.
Cops have not named any of the 128 guests including 38 women as accused and they did not test them for consumption of drugs through any standard screening method.
“The cocaine was not found in any individual’s possession. It was found on the bar counter. The pub manager and the partner have direct responsibility as the facility was operated by them and guests also enter only with their consent. But prima facie we did not have any evidence of drug consumption against the guests at the time of the raid. So we did not subject them to drug screening tests,” said a senior police official, who did not wish to be named.
However, during the subsequent probe, investigators verified the background of guests and found that about eight of them, all men, have a history of narcotics consumption.
“Some names from pub’s guest list on the day of the raid were in the record of law enforcement agencies for drug consumption. Some of the staff and guests were in contact with people with a drug history. We will issue notices to them to appear for questioning. We will try to find out if they know who brings cocaine to the pub. Based on what comes up during the questioning, we will proceed further,” said an investigator.
Cops suspect that cocaine supply and consumption at the pub may have been happening for some time and hope detailed interrogation of Abhishek Vuppala and Anil Kumar may reveal more details. Banjara Hills ACP M Sudarshan said that they have moved a petition seeking the custody of the duo before a local court. After the arguments, the petition was posted for Monday.
