PM Narendra Modi should apologize to youth of Telangana on scrapping ITIR: Telangana minister KT Rama Rao | Hyderabad News
HYDERABAD: Terming Centre’s statement on scrapping ITIR (Information Technology Investment Region) for Hyderabad is shameful, Telangana IT minister KT Rama Rao said the BJP government must sanction a project or package to Telangana as compensation for scrapping the ITIR project.
KTR demanded PM Narendra Modi should apologize to the youth of Telangana for failing to deliver the promises made and what has been given to Telangana instead of ITIR. The IT minister said the BJP has no proper policy for skilling and job creation in the country. “Prime Minister Modi should explain the loss incurred to Hyderabad due to scrapping of the ITIR project,” the Telangana IT minister demanded.
In a statement, KTR on Friday criticised the announcement by junior minister for Electronics and Information Technology Rajeev Chandrasekhar in the Parliament on Friday stating that the ITIR for Hyderabad is a closed chapter.
KTR said the ITIR project has been shelved because TRS is politically opposing Modi’s government and the Centre is indulging in cheap politics.
“The BJP government at the Centre claimed to have granted other projects that are on par to compensate for the ITIR Project. It is in their (BJP party) DNA to easily lie about anything and MoS Rajeev Chandrasekhar has done so now. The Centre had cheated on the people of the country yet again,” KTR said.
The UPA government proposed the ITIR project in 2008 and approved the same in 2013. Later chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao and KTR made several representations to revive the ITIR project.
He also found fault with the Centre to say that the ITIR was scrapped because the latter had sanctioned smart cities and industrial corridors to Telangana. “It is not correct that ITIR was scrapped in lieu of other non-IT Projects. Telangana did not benefit even from the schemes that the Centre claims to have extended and did not get a penny for T Hub,” KTR said.
He also said BJP-ruled states like UP and Gujarat received huge funds under various central schemes. But when it comes to Telangana, every penny is counted and shown as a reason to scrap projects. KTR, who is also TRS working president said recently the Centre had sanctioned software parks to UP, MP, Gujarat, Karnataka, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Arunachal Pradesh, Orissa, Bihar, Punjab, Jharkhand, Kerala. Then why didn’t Telangana get as well?, KTR asked.
