Ou’s Global Alumni Meet Begins Today | Hyderabad News
HYDERABAD: Osmania University is all set to kick off its Global Alumni Meet (GAM) on Tuesday.
Nearly 800 alumni of the decades-old university have registered to participate in the event. The grand celebration, scheduled to start from 3pm, will see several panel discussions and talks from noted alumni on how the illustrious alumni power could be tapped to help the institution build further.
While the day one will end with a gala dinner, the event on the day two will give a chance for the alumni to visit their department and interact with the professors and students, followed by a grand lunch organised at various hostel complexes for alumni to have a trip down the memory lane.
Speaking about the initiatives, D Babu Rao, former alumni who graduated in 1959 said that the effort is laudable and this will take varsity’s networking to heights. Rao is one of the oldest alumni to take part in the event at the age of 84.
“I studied in the college at a very unique time. The teachers were all trained in Urdu medium, but had to teach us in English medium. We also happened to be one of the first batches in engineering college to have 100% placements and often given the moniker of Nagarjuna Sagar batch, as all of us were recruited there owing to the dearth in engineers then,” said Rao.
