NIA files FIR in ‘lone wolf’ terror plot in Hyderabad by trio | Hyderabad News
HYDERABAD: Five months after Telangana’s intelligence team busted a Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terror plot in Hyderabad, the National Investigation Agency (NIA), Hyderabad unit, registered an FIR against three suspects who allegedly planned to launch ISIS-inspired ‘lone wolf’ attacks and bomb Dasara processions in city. The trio was arrested in October last year.
NIA took over probe a week ago after lodging a case against the three suspects – Mohammed Abdul Zahed aka Motu of Moosarambagh, Mohammed Sameeuddin of Saidabad and Maaz Hasan Farooq of Humayun Nagar. The complaint was filed by Cenral Crime Station (CC) inspector Ch Narendar Rao.
NIA said that alleged mastermind, Zahed, an accused in several terror cases in Hyderabad, had recruited several youths, including Maaz and Sameeuddinm on directions of Pakistan-based LeT handlers to strike terror and trigger communal disharmony in the city.

Zahed had received grenades from local terror conduits on instruction of Pakistani handlers and was planning to hurl them at public gatherings and processions during the festive season.
An FIR was lodged on October 1 last year with the CCS under Unlawful Activities Prevention Act,” an NIA official said. During investigations, police seized two hand grenades, two mobile phones and `3.9 lakh from Zahed’s residence. Owing to the seriousness of the crime and its inter-state and international ramifications, the Union home ministry stated it was a scheduled offence under National Investigation Agency Act, 2008, and directed NIA to take up the case on January 25.
