TIRUPATI: Telugu Desam Party’s national secretary Nara Lokesh slammed the police for creating hurdles for his Yuvagalam padayatra and for injuring a party worker during his visit to Samsireddipalli village in GD Nellore mandal of Chittoor district on Thursday.
On the 14th day of his padayatra, Nara Lokesh reached Samsireddipalli village and moments after he began his public address, the local police tried to prevent Lokesh from addressing the people.
There was a scuffle between the TDP activists and the local police in which party worker Basha who was trying to bring a mic to Nara Lokesh sustained injuries.
Nara Lokesh slammed the police for the high-handedness.
Waving the copy of the Indian constitution at the local police Nara Lokesh said, “We follow Dr BR Ambedkar’s constitution and not someone else’s constitution which a few officers like you are following. The entire police force is being defamed today because of a few police officers who are following their own constitution,” Lokesh lamented.
Meanwhile, a head constable identified as A Ramesh who was on bandobust duty for Nara Lokesh’s padayatra died after he suffered a cardiac arrest while on duty on Thursday.
Though he was taken to the government general hospital at Chittoor, the doctors declared him as dead on arrival.
