nagarjuna: Nagarjuna adopts 1,080 acre forest land on Hyderabad outskirts | Hyderabad News
HYDERABAD: Actor Akkineni Nagarjuna has adopted 1,080 acre forest land at Chengicherla on the outskirts of the city. It will be converted into an urban forest park. Nagarjuna laid foundation for the park, which will be named after his father and yesteryears actor Akkineni Nageshwara Rao, on Thursday on the occasion of chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao’s birthday
With Green India Challenge inspiration of MP J Santosh Kumar, Nagarjuna adopted the urban forest park. The Akkineni clan, including Nagarjuna’s wife Amala, sons Naga Chaitanya and Akhil and other family members, attended. For the development of the forest region, Nagarjuna donated 2 crore cheque to the Haritha Nidhi as conceived by the CM.
“MP Santosh Kumar has launched Green India Challenge (GIC) programme to change the environment in our state and country as eco-friendly and clean our environment,” Nagarjuna said. He said he had participated in the programme and planted several saplings.
In the last Big Boss season final programme, he said he discussed the adoption of forest land issue with Santosh Kumar and declared on the dais that he would adopt the forest land. MP Santosh appreciated Nagarjuna for coming forward to take part in the GIC programme. In the vacant areas of the urban forest park, one-lakh saplings would be planted and that programme also began on Thursday. He said no other city had the advantage Hyderabad has towards nature’s availability and above 1.50 lakh acres of forest land around Hyderabad would be protected, preserved and developed as part of the GIC.
