Megha pips Adani, bags gas licences for 15 areas across India | Hyderabad News
MEIL is learnt to have won bids for 15 geographical areas (GAs), accounting for almost a quarter (24.6%) of the total number of GAs that went under the hammer.
Adani Total Gas, on the other hand, is understood to have made winning bids for 14 GAs that account for 23% of the total GAs in the 11th round of city gas distribution (CDG) bidding.
Sources pointed out that while the preliminary winners have been decided on the basis of the bids opened, a formal announcement is expected to be made in the coming days post the verification of the documents.
The Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board (PNGRB) had invited bids for 65 GAs across the country in the latest round but received bids for only 61.
The winning bidders will be setting up mother stations, laying the main gas pipeline and distribution pipelines for piped natural gas (PNG) for households and industries in addition to installing compressed natural gas (CNG) stations for automobiles in the GAs that they have bagged.
MEIL, which offers gas distribution services under Megha Gas, bagged GAs in nine states, including Telangana, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Rajasthan and Odisha out of the 43 GAs that it had bid for.
As part of one GA, MEIL has made the winning bid for Jogulamba Gadwal, Nagarkurnool, Mahabubnagar, Narayanpet and Wanarparthy districts in Telangana along with Yadgir in Karnataka in addition to a separate GA for Chikkaballapur district for Karnataka.
It has also snagged four GAs in Tamil Nadu, four in Madhya Pradesh, including one GA that includes Jhalawar district of Rajasthan, two in Uttar Pradesh and one each in Maharashtra, Odisha, Punjab.
