Man kills daughter, attacks wife over family disputes in Andhra Pradesh’s Srikakulam district | Visakhapatnam News


SRIKAKULAM: A 66-year-old man allegedly murdered his daughter with a sword and attacked his wife at Sottavanipeta under Amadalavalasa Mandal in Srikakulam district of Andhra Pradesh.
The deceased was identified as Kolusu Vijaya (26). Her mother Kolusu Suryam alias Suryamma was admitted to RIMS hospital in Srikakulam town with severe injuries. The accused Kolusu Rama Rao is still at large.
A police officer said that Rama Rao is a toddy tapper by profession, and he suspected that his wife Suryam had an extramarital affair. Rama Rao and Suryam were not in good terms for the past one year due to some disputes.
Rao’s younger daughter Vijaya and his two sons dismissed his allegations and supported their mother.
Rao got into a heated argument with his wife on Friday and attacked her with sword. Meanwhile, Rao’s daughter Vijaya tried to save her mother but suffered serious injuries and died on the spot. However, Vijaya’s mother survived with severe injuries on her neck and head. Later, Rao fled from the spot.
At the time of the incident, Suryam’s sons were not at home.
We have formed a special team to nab the accused Rama Rao. Suryam underwent a surgery and her condition is said to be stable. A case has been registered under sections 302 and 307 of IPC, the officer said.
