IB official dies after accidental fall during security check in Hyderabad | Hyderabad News
HYDERABAD: An assistant director of the Intelligence Bureau (IB) died after he accidentally fell from the stage of the Shilpakala Vedika cultural centre at Madhapur while reviewing the security measures for an upcoming event being attended by the Vice President on Wednesday.
The officer, Kumar Amresh, 51, a native of Patna, was posted at the IB’s Hyderabad office. On Wednesday evening, he along with his IB colleagues, went to Shilpakala Vedika to review the security measures for Telugu Association of North America’s (TANA) upcoming event which is being attended by the Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu on May 20.
At around 1pm, Amresh got on to the state and started video-recording the surroundings on his cell phone. “While recording the video, the officer failed to notice that he had reached the edge of the stage and crashed on the floor of the maintenance area in front of the state 12 feet below,” said a police official who was present at the venue.
Amresh sustained an internal head injury and fell unconscious. The cops at the spot rushed him to a nearby private hospital. While undergoing treatment, he succumbed to injuries at around 7pm.
Madhapur inspector P Ravindra Prasad said that they have registered a suspicious death case under section 174 of CrPC and shifted the body to Osmania General Hospital (OGH) for postmortem.
Amresh is survived by his wife and two children. His daughter is a BCom student and his son is studying in class XII, police officials said.
