Hyderabad: Taps in over 3 lakh homes to go dry for 36 hours | Hyderabad News

HYDERABAD: For 36 hours beginning August 16, over 3.5 lakh consumers across Greater Hyderabad and its periphery will not receive any drinking water supply, the water board informed on Friday.
This prolonged shutdown will only affect households that get their quota of potable water through the Krishna supply chain, they added.

Reason: Electric work and flyover construction being undertaken as part of the Strategic Road Development Project. “The Telangana Transco is taking up replacement of an electric transformer while civic authorities are attending to junction work facilitate the building of a proposed flyover. As a result there will be no potable water supply on August 16 and 17,” an official said.
This is for the first time this monsoon that the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWS&SB) has announced such a shutdown.
Speaking to TOI, HMWS&SB director projects-II, P Ravi Kumar, said, “We will arrange as many tankers as possible for the consumers and ensure they make additional trips so that nobody is inconvenienced.”
