Police found that among this six-member gang, a barter system was followed to exchange brown sugar with ganja.

“Quadri who used to supply biscuits in Mumbai, got in touch with another accused Chand, who is a drug peddler. Both developed friendship with each other. Quadri informed Chand that he intended to sell ganja in Mumbai, for which he sought his help. Chand agreed to the proposal,” Anand said.
Quadri’s associate Khasim, used to arrange ganja to the former by contacting Ramesh. Khasim used to transport ganja by train and sell one kilogram of ganja for Rs 8,000 to Quadri.
After some time, Chand and Mahesh gave an offer to Quadri that they will exchange brown sugar with ganja. The duo from Mumbai proposed Rs 1,100 per gram of brown sugar, whereas Quadri offered ganja for Rs 12,000 a kg.
Following this barter system, Quadri used to bring brown sugar to Hyderabad and hand it over to Shahed Kamal, who inturn used to sell it to drug abusers at a cost ranging between Rs 7,000 and Rs 9,000. It was in Kalapathar, the four accused were nabbed while they were in possession of drugs.
Hyderabad police commissioner CV Anand said that in the backdrop of few drug bust by central agencies like Directorate of Revenue Intelligence, Customs authorities and others, there is need for coordinated work to be done to get into the bottom of the drug rackets. In the absence of it, there is every chance of some drug peddlers wanted in a case registered by an agency, getting slipped from being made accused, where his involvement will be there. Already, a meeting was held among these agencies to overcome communication gaps.
