HYDERABAD: In a shocking incident, a 24-year-old food delivery executive was set ablaze by two persons on suspicion that he had framed their family member in a theft case. The duo doused Adil with petrol in an open area near the Government Hospital for Mental Care in Erragadda on Friday night and torched him.
SR Nagar police said Adil suffered 80% burns and is in Osmania General Hospital. Police said that his condition is very critical.
On Friday night, staff at the hospital saw flames at the open place and rushed to the spot only to realise that a man was engulfed in flames. They immediately doused the flames and shifted him to OGH.
In his statement to police, Adil mentioned that two of his acquaintances, Azhar and Mohammed, called him to the place in Erragadda to discuss an issue. “The suspects felt that Adil framed their brother-in-law in a theft case registered in Balanagar police station a few months ago. They called Adil under the pretext of discussing the issue and suddenly poured petrol on him and set him ablaze,” SR Nagar inspector K Saidulu said. An attempt to murder case was registered.
