Hyderabad: Cook butchered by son in his restaurant | Hyderabad News

HYDERABAD: A 75-year-old ex-hawaldar in Army was allegedly killed by his son at a restaurant, where he was working as a cook, in Begumpet on Sunday morning. Police suspect property dispute to be the motive behind the murder.
Police said that the victim, Abraham Lincoln, met his son Kiran at the restaurant, where he worked. Following an argument between the two, Kiran allegedly attacked Lincoln with a sickle inside the restaurant. The accused is the victim’s son from his second wife.
The victim was shifted to a private hospital by the restaurant staff, but he succumbed while undergoing treatment. During the investigation, police came to know that the accused, Kiran, was allegedly upset that his father was seeking Rs 25 lakhs from him.
“The victim has two plots in Nalagandla area. But Kiran without the knowledge of his father sold those two plots by fabricating gift deed documents, to give an impression that Lincoln had given his property to him as a gift. The accused secretly sold the property to someone else in 2015,” Begumpet inspector P Srinivas Rao said.
Lincoln became aware of the alleged illegal sale of the two plots in 2018. “Lincoln filed a case in a local court in 2018 and the court recently gave an order in his favour. Following this, Kiran approached his father through a common known person and his father agreed to give up the claim but asked his son to give him Rs 25 lakhs, which he was supposed to do on Monday. But he came on Sunday morning and killed the victim,” the inspector said.
The victim married again after his first wife passed away. However, due to differences with his 2nd wife, he was staying away from her since 2013. He was working in a restaurant and residing in the same place.
Police said that the accused is at large and they are searching for him. A case was registered under section 302 (murder) of IPC.
