Gang Honey Trapsbizmen, Arrested | Hyderabad News
Hyderabad: A gang led by a dismissed home guard which was extorting businessmen after honey trapping them was busted by cops on Monday.
Apart from the home guard, Mohammed Viqar Mehdi, two women, a website manager and eight others were arrested, while one woman is absconding.
The gang identified businessmen and then used the three women — Syeda Uzma, Shaik Sameera and Heena (absconding) — to lure them by chatting over phone.
“The woman would invite the businessman to a hotel or resort after talking with him for a few days. When the man was alone with the woman, the gang would barge into the room, threaten with knives and dummy pistols. Viqar would pose as a cop and threaten to book a criminal case. Others would then threaten to upload his photos online unless he paid up,” said Hyderabad Central Zone DCP Rajesh Chandra at a press meet on Monday.
The gang had targeted four businessmen so far. While one businessman lost Rs 5 lakh, another paid Rs 2.5 lakh, and two others paid Rs 95,000 and Rs 50,000 respectively after being blackmailed by the gang.
