Diamond thief still on run, family under police radar in Hyderabad | Hyderabad News
HYDERABAD: Four police teams are continuing their manhunt for 26-year-old Srinivas who decamped with 7 crore diamond-studded jewellery which belonged to a Gachibowli-based merchant on Friday.
While one of the teams is keeping a close watch on Srinivas’s family members at Eluru town in Andhra Pradesh, another team is tracking CCTV footage at toll plazas suspecting that the accused might have left the state.
Sources said that he was last spotted transiting on NH 65 towards Vijayawada.
SR Nagar police said that they would be informing the income tax department as it was found that there wasn’t any bill of purchase for the diamond-studded jewellery.
“The driver has been working just two months for Gachibowli-based diamond jewellery merchant and it is surprising that such high valued jewellery was being transported in a car without any security,” a police official said.
Cops said that they are also tracking activity amongst receivers in the region if Srinivas tries to cash in by selling the jewellery.
SR Nagar police have also collected statements from Srinivas’s hostel mates in Madhura Nagar to find more details about his activities.
The accused, Srinivas, fled with the jewellery late on Friday evening when the company representative accompanying him left him alone to deliver 50 lakh worth of ornaments to a customer at SR Nagar
