Deluge Leaves Trail Of Death-trap Potholes | Hyderabad News
HYDERABAD: The recent rains have taken a heavy toll on roads in city, exposing the lack of monsoon preparedness. Though the GHMC has fixed over 3,000 potholes, it has done little to ease the ride on roads that were already in bad shape.
In a few areas, residents said that the rains have compounded their problems. A trip by TOI on affected stretches revealed that quite a few roads were severely damaged.
In a few areas, residents said that the rains have compounded their problems. A trip by TOI on affected stretches revealed that quite a few roads were severely damaged.
For instance, road number 6 in Amberpet was more or less a stretch with gaping potholes. “The flyover work has left the stretch damaged for months now. They did a little patchwork, but it all went in vain when it rained again,” Krishna, an auto driver, rued.
A similar scene is playing out on Nizampet–Bachupally road.
“Had the Nizampet Municipal Corporation (NMC) taken care of the road before monsoon, it wouldn’t be this severe. When it rains heavily, potholes are waterlogged, making it risky for commuters,” Rahul Shankar, a local activist said. The Gopanapally-Osman Nagar road in Tellapur is another example of lack of monsoon readiness, residents said.
