Congress: Telangana Congress president A Revanth Reddy to resume padayatra today from BRS stronghold | Hyderabad News
HYDERABAD: After a two-day Shivaratri break, Telangana Congress president A Revanth Reddy will resume his padayatra from Warangal West assembly constituency on Monday.
Having made to bite the dust at the hands of BRS in 2014 and 2018 assembly elections despite the party giving statehood to Telangana and subsequent rise of BJP, Revanth has taken up his padayatra as a do or die battle trying to expose the failures of BRS and BJP governments and making a slew of promises to win back the hearts of the people, in the run up to assembly elections to be held later this year.
Leaders close to him said more promises would follow during his walkathon. Among the major promises made by Revanth during the last 11-day walkathon so far include a LPG cylinder for women at 500 per refill, increasing the financial assistance for free medical treatment in private and corporate hospitals to the poor under the Aarogyasri scheme from 2 lakh to 5 lakh, regular job recruitment calendar, scrapping of Dharani portal, podu land pattas to all eligible as per the Forests Rights Act 2006, underground drainage in Mahabubabad, solving the problems of home guards and 40,000 TSRTC employees to name a few.
Earlier in May 2022, the Congress MP had released Farmer’s Declaration in Warangal public meeting and as per it, Congress had promised 2 lakh crop loan waiver in one go for the farmers. ‘Indiramma Rythu Bharosa’ scheme would be introduced to provide investment support of 15,000 per acre per year to both land-owning as well as tenant farmers.
The Congress had also promised to reopen closed sugar factories and set up a turmeric board. A better crop insurance scheme would be introduced to cover crop losses due to natural calamities or other reasons.
Revanth categorically said all the promises being made would be implemented in letter and spirit. His 12-th day padayatra would resume on Monday from Warangal West constituency, a BRS stronghold. The seat has been represented continuously by Dasyam Vinay Bhaskar since 2009.
