Congress announces 48-hour stir against Telangana CM’s comments on the Constitution | Hyderabad News
HYDERABAD: The Congress will take up a 48-hour agitation from Thursday as part of which it will burn the effigies of Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao near the statues of B R Ambedkar in the state demanding that he withdraw his comments and tender apology for seeking a new Constitutional framework.
Telangana Congress president A Revanth Reddy condemned CM KCR’s remarks proposing a new Constitution and alleged that he is pursuing BJP’s agenda of changing the Constitution.
“The BJP has been conspiring to change the Constitution drafted by B R Ambedkar, and this time, the party made KCR speak about it. The SCs, STs and BCs have been enjoying reservations because of the present provisions of the Constitution. The BJP wanted to change the Constitution to deprive SCs, STs, BCs and others of reaping the benefits of reservations and other sops. While KCR was always inclined towards BJP’s ideology, this time he came out in the open against Ambedkar’s Constitution,” Revanth alleged while addressing a media conference in New Delhi.
Revanth called upon the party cadre and leaders to burn KCR’s effigies and said the Constitution of India is considered one of the best. Some of the provisions of the Constitution could be amended and so far it has been done 105 times. But by proposing a change in the Constitution, KCR has displayed his disrespect and hatred towards Ambedkar and also the SC, ST, BC and other weaker communities, he alleged.
“KCR reacted to the Union budget but did not speak about the promises made in the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act which the BJP government has not fulfilled in the last eight years. KCR was silent about Railway Coach and Steel Factories and Tribal University,” Revanth said.
The TPCC chief found fault with CM KCR for using non-parliamentary language against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and union finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman who is a woman hailing from a Telugu state. “KCR must respect Narendra Modi as he holds the post of Prime Minister of India. Despite having ideological and political differences with Narendra Modi, the Congress leaders never abused Modi in unparliamentary language,” Revanth said.
Commenting on the budget, Revanth said that it was the eighth budget presented by the BJP government at the Centre. “The budget is totally disappointing and benefits only the rich and elite population while neglecting the needs of 90% of nearly 140 crore people. Farmers comprising nearly 75% of the population were ignored. No relief was given in GST or in tax slabs. There was nothing for the employees, youth, farmers, women and other sections. Even the health budget was not increased and the education sector continued to be neglected. The rising inflation was not addressed. The BJP’s ‘suit boot ki sarkar’ has disappointed all sections of society, Revanth said.
