BRS and BJP indulging in blame game to divert the attention: Former Telangana minister Shabbir Ali | Hyderabad News
HYDERABAD: The Congress has charged the BRS and BJP of enacting a well-scripted drama on diversion of funds released for Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS) works in Telangana.
Former minister Mohammed Ali Shabbir of the Congress while addressing a meeting after unveiling the statue of former Prime Minister Late Rajiv Gandhi in Anthampally village in Bhiknoor Mandal of Kamareddy constituency, accused both BRS and BJP governments in the state and at the centre of not implementing the MGNREGS properly in Telangana.
“The ongoing tussle between the BRS and BJP over the alleged diversion of Rs 151 crore of MGNREGS funds was a deliberate attempt to divert attention of the people from the failures of BRS and BJP governments,” he alleged.
The BJP government has reduced the man-days from 16 crore in the last financial year to 10 crore during the current fiscal under MGNREGS. Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao did not complain or hold a protest against the BJP government for reducing 6 crore man-days. Consequently, 55 lakh job cardholders in Telangana were not getting adequate work and lost their source of livelihood. To mislead them, the BRS leaders are protesting against the Modi government, he alleged.
The Congress leader demanded that the BRS and BJP governments stop the ongoing blame game and take steps to increase the man-days to 150 days per person.
