Boeing: Tata Boeing Aerospace Limited ships first vertical fin from Hyderabad for Boeing 737 | Hyderabad News

HYDERABAD: In a major boost to ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat‘, Tata Boeing Aerospace Limited (TBAL) on Tuesday said it has shipped the first vertical fin structure for Boeing 737 aircraft from its facility in Hyderabad.
The vertical fin will be delivered to the Boeing manufacturing facility in Renton, Washington state, for integration into the final Boeing 737 aircraft, TBAL said, reports Swati Bharadwaj.
A vertical fin is a vertical stabilizing surface mounted on the aircraft tail to provide stability and control in yaw (movement of aircraft from side-to-side), prevents side-slip and helps aircraft maintain a straight and level flight.
TBAL, which is a joint venture between Boeing and Tata Advanced Systems Limited (TASL), had added a new production line to its 14,000 sqmt manufacturing facility in Hyderabad in 2021 to manufacture complex vertical fin structures for Boeing’s 737 family of airplanes.
TBAL said its new production line utilizes cutting-edge robotics, automation and advanced aerospace concepts like full-scale determinant assembly in its manufacturing processes. “TBAL is an example of Boeing’s commitment towards co-development of integrated systems in aerospace and defence in India for the world and a reflection of the country’s ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ capabilities.
The speed and quality with which the first vertical fin was manufactured is testimony to TBAL’s skilled workforce, engineering talent and world-class manufacturing prowess,” said Boeing India president Salil Gupte.
“The successful shipment of the first vertical fin structure for Boeing 737 aircraft is a result of the hard work and seamless collaboration by TBAL teams and positions India as an important manufacturing base in Boeing operations. We stay committed to the progression of indigenous aerospace manufacturing with a strong focus on quality and timely delivery,” said Sukaran Singh, managing director and chief executive officer, TASL.
TBAL, which currently employs over 900 engineers and technicians, has been producing aero-structures for Boeing’s AH-64 Apache helicopter. TASL, which is a wholly owned subsidiary of Tata Sons and focused on aerospace and defence, has joint ventures and partnerships with several global aerospace and defence giants.
