Bandi Sanjay’s arrest: Telangana CS asked to appear before LS privilege panel | Hyderabad News
HYDERABAD: The Lok Sabha committee of privileges issued a notice to Telangana chief secretary Somesh Kumar based on a complaint from Karimnagar MP Bandi Sanjay against his illegal arrests by the police in Telangana.
Bandi Sanjay had appeared before the committee in Delhi on Friday and explained what he faced at the hands of the police. He spoke about his arrest on January 2 in Karimnagar where he had taken up a protest against GO 317.
The committee of privileges will hear the matter on February 2 at 3pm.
The committee has issued notices to principal secretary (home) Ravi Gupta, director-general of police M Mahendar Reddy, commissioner of police (Karimnagar) V Satyanarayana, ACP Karimnagar Srinivasa Rao, DSP Jagtial Prakash and inspector of Karimnagar police station, Lakshmi Babu. They are to appear before the committee to give oral statements.
