Andhra Pradesh leads country in SC/ST welfare spending, says minister Adimulapu Suresh | Amaravati News

AMARAVATI: Asserting that Andhra Pradesh is leading the country in spending on SC/ST welfare, municipal administration minister Adimulapu Suresh on Wednesday lashed out at Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and Janasena for spearheading the false campaign.
He said a large section of Dalits and organisations have wholeheartedly showered praises on the chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy for extending the SC/ST sub-plan Act.
Addressing the media at the party office, Dr Suresh said they had spent Rs 48,989 crore in the last three and half years for the welfare of SCs while it was just around Rs 33,635 crore during the five-year-long TDP rule between 2014-19.
“We have spent nearly Rs 15,274 crore more than what TDP spent in five years. This is nearly a 45 per cent increase which no other state reported in the country,” the minister said.
He said that the Union government itself had hailed the state government-initiated measures for the welfare of the SC/ST since 2019.
We have spent around Rs 15,589 crore in 42 months against the TDP’s spending of Rs 12,487 crore for the ST welfare, the minister said.
“This is nearly Rs 3,101 crore higher than the amount spent by the TDP. This is nearly a 25 per cent increase in ST welfare,” Suresh said.
He dared the opposition parties and their media houses for any debate on the issue as everything is in the record.
“TDP government had diverted the sub-plan funds for Chandranna Raithu Kshetralu, Polam Badi, Jawahar knowledge centres, Inti Mahalakshmi, Anna Amrutha Hastam, NTR Sujala Sravanthi, Chandranna Pelli Kanuka and distribution of sanitary napkins,” he said.
He criticized Janasena chief Pawan Kalyan for making senseless allegations on SC/ST sub-plan expenditure.
