Andhra Pradesh CM Jagan Mohan Reddy performs ‘bhoomi puja’ at JSW steel plant in YSR district | Amaravati News


TIRUPATI: Andhra Pradesh chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on Wednesday performed ‘bhoomi puja’ at the JSW steel plant in Sunnapurallapalli village of YSR district.
Addressing a gathering, the chief minister underlined the impotence of the day and said it was a historic day in the lives of the people of this region who cherished having a steel plant established in the district for several years.
“The JSW steel plant will be established in two phases with a total investment of Rs 8,800 crore. The first phase works of the steel plant are envisaged to have a production capacity of three million tonnes per annum, which will be completed within 24-30 months from now by spending Rs 3,300 crore. The second phase works will be completed by the Jindal group by investing Rs 5,500 crore within a time frame of approximately five years after the first phase works are completed,” YS Jagan asserted.
The chief minister said the state government was spending Rs 700 crore in infrastructure development aimed at speeding up the works related to the establishment of the JSW steel plant at Jammalamadugu.
“The region will go through rapid industrialisation transformation as the state government will also promote the establishment of ancillary industries here apart from establishing the JSW steel plant. There will be a plethora of job opportunities for the local youth as well”, Jagan said.
The chief minister felicitated JSW steel MD Sajjan Jindal for coming forward to establish a steel plant at Jammalamadugu.
“When JSW group established their steel plant at Jammalamadugu, the plant capacity was three million tonnes per annum. But today that plant’s production has gone up to 13 million tonnes a year. Similarly, we hope that the JSW steel plant at Jammalamadugu will also scale up production in a phased manner,” Jagan hoped.
The chief minister reiterated that the state which had positioned itself at the number one position in the ease of doing business index since 2019, has emerged as one of the most preferred investment destinations in the country by adopting and implementing some of the best industrial policies in the country.
Kadapa MP YS Avinash Reddy, Jammalamadugu MLA Sudhir Reddy and representatives from the JSW group and officials of the district administration were present.
