BRS wins majority posts in CESS elections | Hyderabad News
HYDERABAD: The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) bagged 13 of 15 director posts in Cooperative Electric Supply Society (CESS) elections held in Telangana’s Rajanna-Sircilla district.
One seat Chandurthy went in favour of the BJP candidate and another seat Vemulawada rural recounting was taken up after the BRS sought for recounting.
The final result for the post is expected by late night.
While polling was held for 15 director posts on December 24, counting was taken up on Monday.
Both BRS and BJP took the election as prestigious as Sircilla is being represented by minister KT Rama Rao and it also comes under Karimnagar Lok Sabha being represented by BJP state chief Bandi Sanjay.
Sanjay held a meeting and campaigned in the CESS elections and KTR addressed the 1.5 lakh voters (especially farmers) through teleconference a few days ago.
There was mild tension at Telangana circle during the counting in Vemulawada when BJP and BRS leaders raised slogans against each other. But police intervened and dispersed the workers of both parties.
Reacting to the election results, KTR said the people of Sircilla have once again rejected the BJP in the CESS elections.
“Like general elections, BJP tried to lure the voters with money and liquor. Still, people rejected the BJP candidates and proved the saffron party has no place in the state,” the minister said.
He said there is resentment among the people especially farmers as the BJP government at the Centre was trying to fix up electric meters to the agriculture pump sets in the name of electricity reforms.
“I wholeheartedly thank voters of my district Rajanna-Sircilla for giving the BRS absolute and brilliant victory in the CESS elections held in 13 mandals and two municipalities. Grateful for reposing trust in the leadership of KCR garu yet again,” KTR tweeted.
