telangana: Telangana cops fail probe test, CD proof goes blank | Hyderabad News

HYDERABAD: In yet another case, Telangana police’s alleged negligence in producing the right video evidence against a public representative before the MLA & MP special court came to light on Tuesday. A CD produced as an evidence against Congress MP Komatireddy Venkat Reddy turned out to be a blank one.
In the past too, investigating officers from Telangana police had filed CD as part of evidence to prove their case against MLAs and MPs. In some cases, either the storage device had irrelevant video or it was found to be blank.
Komatireddy Venkat Reddy and several other Congress leaders appeared before the special court on Tuesday to face trial in a 2017 case registered by Nalgonda police, wherein the Bhongir MP and his supporters took out a motor rally allegedly to obstruct the inauguration of a fruit market, which was attended by ministers T Harish Rao and G Jagadeesh Reddy. Police had registered five different cases on the same issue.
The CD, which was declared as evidence in the charge sheet, was taken for considering during the trial by the court on Tuesday. But it was found that there was no file in the CD and it was blank. The court, in the coming days, would examine the declared witnesses.
In the past, at least in two cases, which were registered against Telangana Pradesh Congress president A Revanth Reddy and Raja Singh, police had failed to produce the right CD.
Police had levelled an allegation that Revanth Reddy after he was released on bail in alleged cash-for-vote case took out a rally with his followers and created obstruction to traffic.
However, the CD produced by Osmania University police before the court, it clearly showed that there was no traffic jam and the vehicles of Revanth Reddy, police and common public was moving freely without any traffic jam. The visual contradicted the allegations made by police.
Of the 141 cases taken up by the court since October, 2020, except 11 cases, the remaining cases led to acquittal and this includes public representatives of all parties.
