HYDERABAD: Alleging that chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao fears minorities more than goddess Durga, BJP state chief Bandi Sanjay Kumar said their government will celebrate Vijayadashami festival in Alampur’s Jogulamba temple officially once the party comes to power in the 2023 elections.
He said: “As soon as I entered the temple here, I got very positive vibes. My padayatra is the final push to dethrone the TRS government. Cooperate with the BJP and people of the state need to think about this.” Addressing a public meeting at Alampur on the first day of his Praja Sangrama padayatra’s second phase, Sanjay said: “KCR does not care about our sentiments and traditions. The festival is officially celebrated in Vijayawada’s Kanaka Durga temple, but not here.”
He wondered, “Is Jogulamba shrine not a temple of enormous power and shoudn’t it be developed? We will develop it after coming to power.”
Reacting to the acquittal of AIMIM MLA Akbaruddin Owaisi in the alleged hate speech cases, he said: “We will not spare those acquitted in hate speech cases in Nirmal and Adilabad. We will reopen them again.”
On Ramzan prayers and special prayers during Ayyappa deeksha and Hanuman deeksha, Sanjay said: “When the government can issue a separate GO for facilitating prayers during Ramzan in offices, schools and elsewhere, why cannot it issue an order for Ayyappa or Hanuman devotees. We are not against any religion, all we want is all devotees are treated on a par.”
Alleging that the government denies permissions for Hindu festivals and celebrations and has even filed criminal charges against Goshamahal MLA T Raja Singh, he said: “Imagine what will happen if the BJP is not putting up a fight.”
Turning his ire on KCR, Sanjay said: “We made him take up the paddy procurement issue. We have been saying that we will make him bend and that is what has happened. Telangana needs to have its dreams fulfilled.”
