Telangana must set up more old-age homes: HC | Hyderabad News
HYDERABAD: The Telangana High Court on Tuesday directed the state to construct more state-run old-age homes in all districts of the state.
The bench of Chief Justice Satish Chandra Sharma and Justice Abhindand Kumar Shavili — while resuming hearing in a PIL the court took up two years ago heard amicus curiae Vasudha Nagaraj and directed state to set up state-level and districtlevel monitoring committees to monitor old-age homes.
Vasudha informed the co- urt that there are only two state-run old age homes in the state. One in Karimnagar and the other in Ranga Reddy. There is a need to set up more such homes in Hyderabad which has a two-crore population.
The bench agreed and directed the state to set up more homes in Hyderabad. As the state has come forward to set up one home in each district, the bench said it should be done in a time-bound manner.
State counsel said state and district monitoring committees would regulate homes. The bench closed PIL warning the same will be reopened if things don’t improve.
