telangana: Hyderabad crosses 41 degree Celsius; Telangana sizzles at 44 degree Celsius | Hyderabad News

HYDERABAD: With temperature soaring across the state, mercury crossed 41 degree Celsius in the city on Wednesday. It was also the hottest day of the year in the state with 20 districts crossing 44 degree Celsius where officials have issued an orange alert.
The highest temperature of 44.9 degree Celsius was recorded in Komaram Bheem, followed by 44.8 degree Celsius in Mulugu, Nirmal, Nizamabad and Bhupalpally.
“Today is the hottest day of the year both in Hyderabad and elsewhere in Telangana. Above normal temperature has been recorded across Telangana,”said K Naga Ratna, director, Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), Hyderabad, adding that temperature was likely to rise on Thursday as well.
She said that while the temperature in the city is likely to around 42 degree Celsius in April and May, in north Telangana — Komaram Bheem, Adilabad, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Mancherial, among other districts — the temperature might cross 45 degree Celsius.
In GHMC limits, the highest temperature of 41.4 degree Celsius was recorded in Madhapur in Ranga Reddy district, followed by 41.3 degree Celsius in Balaji Nagar in Medchal-Malkajgiri district and Maitrivanam and Trimulgherry in Hyderabad district on Wednesday.
The IMD also predicted light to moderate rain or thunder showers at isolated places over Telangana for the next 5 days.
“As the temperature is high, we will also be seeing thunder showers at various places in the state,” Naga Ratna added.
