Telangana Budget: Govt allocates Rs 26,831 crore for agriculture | Hyderabad News
HYDERABAD: Presenting the election year budget for 2023-24, Telangana finance minister T Harish Rao on Monday proposed an expenditure of Rs 2,90,396 crore, with revenue expenditure of Rs 2,11,685 crore and capital expenditure at Rs 37,525 crore.
The state government has earmarked Rs 26,831 crore, a major allocation, for agriculture and allied department. With no new schemes announced, the state government made allocations for all existing schemes but allocation for promised unemployment allowance was not provided.
The state has proposed to get Rs 67, 691 crore as taxes on commodities, another Rs 18,687 crore from taxes on property, and non-tax revenue is expected to be around Rs 22,801 crore.
Heavy with criticism on the Centre for not supporting Telangana enough, the finance minister maintained in his 71-page document that “despite discrimination and restrictions from the Centre, Telangana has not compromised on the development and welfare”.
