somesh kumar: Close schools early, sensitise people: Telangana chief secretary Somesh Kumar | Hyderabad News

HYDERABAD: Chief secretary Somesh Kumar has directed the education department to ensure schools are closed early in view of the prevailing heat wave conditions across the state.
Addressing district collectors, senior officials of health, education and disaster management departments through a teleconference, the chief secretary on Wednesday directed the education department to issue necessary guidelines to schools.
He directed the officials to initiate steps to sensitise people about the measures they should take to avoid the ill-effects of heat wave conditions. The Met department also warned that temperatures would rise further in several districts of the state.
“Effort should be made to ensure all amenities to children appearing for examinations in addition to prioritising maintenance of power to all critical facilities like hospitals and drinking water supply schemes. Collectors should prepare their district-specific heat wave action plans,” he said.
He also directed panchayat secretaries and other officials concerned to conduct gram sabhas and publicise the dos and don’ts besides setting up water supply kiosks at market yards, bus stations etc.
