ravi: Meet Ravi Prabhu, the Telugu vlogger who’s crushing travel goals in 2022 | Hyderabad News

Walking on the rim of a live volcano in Vanuatu, traversing through double landlocked countries of Uzbekistan and Liechtenstein, going up close with the big five in Masai Mara in Kenya, interacting with silverback gorillas in their natural habitat in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Rwanda and exploring glaciers in Alaska, Ravi Prabhu aka RTT (Ravi Telugu Traveller) has been crushing travel and fitness goals on social media. The Indo-American traveler has been to 186 countries so far and aims to visit every country in the world by the end of 2022.
“Whenever I travel, I look at it as a break from work, and once I get back to work, I consider it as a break from my travelling,” says Ravi, who lives with his wife and daughter in Richmond, Virginia USA.
Ravi’s mother is an educationist, and his father worked for a public bank. Coming from a well-educated family, he developed a positive attitude towards life and a great aptitude to learn. While many kids of his age dreamt of a favourite bicycle or video game, 10-year-old Ravi dreamt of travelling worldwide. “Instead of saving up on Leave Travel Concession (LTC), my parents took me around the country. My first international trip happened at the age of 10 when we travelled to Bhutan. It changed my perspective about travel. Since then, it has been my dream,” he reveals.
Ravi grew up in Srikakulam, Visakhapatnam and Hyderabad. “I did my Bachelor of Arts from AVN College, Visakhapatnam and Masters in Political Science from the Central University of Hyderabad,” he says.

After completing the double Masters in Business Management with a specialisation in Information Systems, his first job in the US gave him the wings to pursue his passion for travelling the world. “When I got my first job, I methodically planned the salary I received — saving some and spending some on travel. That’s how my stint with travel started,” he explains. Initially, he travelled for personal gratification, but it changed during his trips to India. “Some people I met in India talked about popular travel vloggers, and I realised they have not travelled as extensively as I did. That was when the thought of vlogging came to my mind,” he smiles.

Ravi started his own YouTube channel in August 2020, which has over 5 lakh subscribers. He aces his live sessions on social media with a brilliant memory of all the places he travelled. Ravi’s Instagram posts also give his followers serious travel and fitness goals. “Growing up, Salman Khan had been my role model, and I started gyming in 2007. I’ve been consistent with my fitness regime, watching what I eat. Getting the body is the simple part; maintaining it is difficult and needs consistency,” he says.

Ravi was in Hyderabad recently for a short trip, where he met some of his fans at the Durgam Cheruvu Park. “Hyderabad is a fascinating city. It is a melting pot of many cultures and assimilation of the best. The city is like my second home,” he says.
The travel vlogger advises aspiring travelers to keep pursuing their goals. “Take time out for life. It need not be a 24/7 run machine. Travel doesn’t have to be expensive. You’ll find me staying at roadside hotels, camps, and tents in my vlogs. We can overcome obstacles if we are willing to explore. We all have one life, and the plan is to enter old age with fewer regrets,” he says, signing off.
