HYDERABAD: The All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) has urged Telangana Legislative Assembly speaker Pocharam Srinivas Reddy to expel BJP MLA T Raja Singh from the House for violating his oath as a legislator.
In a separate statement, the CPI demanded that Raja Singh should be removed from MLAs post as he has hurt the sentiments of Muslims on many earlier occasions and has now made derogatory remarks against the Prophet Muhammad.
In a representation to the Assembly speaker on Wednesday, AIMIM general secretary and MLA Ahmed Pasha Quadri stated that Raja Singh’s conduct was unbecoming of a member of the House and has breached the House’s privileges, resulting in collective contempt.
Raja Singh’s comments against Prophet Muhammad and Islam have hurt the sentiments of Muslims , which is a blatant violation of his oath as the MLA. The oath binds a member to bear true faith and allegiance to the constitution. .Also, secularism and fraternity are part of the basic structure of the Constitution of India.
“Raja Singh has repeatedly incited violence, promoted enmity, hatred and ill-will against Muslims. Thus, he also violated his oath to uphold the integrity of India,” stated the AIMIM general secretary in the representation to the Speaker.
Pasha Quadri also alleged that the BJP MLA’s remarks have resulted in diminishing the dignity of the Legislative Assembly.
Further, the AIMIM complained that it was not a one-off incident, but a consistent pattern.
The party also stated that the BJP MLA was suspended from the House earlier this year, for his misbehaviour. The AIMIM has sought action against Raja Singh under Article 194 of the Constitution for breach of privilege and contempt of the House.
In a separate statement, CPI state secretary Chada Venkat Reddy on Wednesday demanded that Raja Singh should be removed from his MLA post. He also found fault with BJP and its frontal organisations alleged attack on TRS MLC K Kavith’s residence and sought to warn that BCs, SCs and downtrodden will come on a single platform against BJP if the saffron party and RSS elements do not stop their politics of hatred.
