NIA books Maoists, CMS leaders for girl’s kidnap | Hyderabad News
HYDERABAD: A woman lodged a complaint with the National Investigation Agency (NIA), claiming that her daughter was kidnapped by Chaitanya Mahila Sangham (CMS), a frontal organisation of CPI (Maoist), and forced to join the left-wing extremist movement.
While Visakhapatnam police initially registered an FIR against Maoists, it has now been taken up by the NIA. The girl, Radha, has been missing for the last three-and-a-half years. The case has been registered under kidnapping, wrongful confinement, unlawful assembly, rioting, criminal conspiracy and various sections of the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act.
Pallepati Pochamma, a resident of Saibaba Colony in Kapra, Hyderabad, in her complaint, said: “My younger daughter Radha was doing nursing course. Leaders of CMS, Dongari Devendra, Dubasi Swapna, Chukka Shilpa and others used to visit my daughter’s college and the ideology of Maoism was indoctrinated into her mind.”
In December 2017, Devendra took away Radha forcibly on the pretext of providing medical treatment to someone. “Since then, she has not returned home. After nine months, I came to know that my daughter has joined the outlawed Maoist party and working along with Maoist top leaders Uday and Aruna in the forest area of Peddabayalu in Visakhapatnam district,” she said.
In the FIR issued on June 3, the NIA said: “The CMS leaders conspired, conducted meetings unlawfully and recruited Radha in Maoist ranks. Devendra kidnapped Radha and wrongfully confined her in the interior forest areas to work with the top brass of Maoists.”
NIA, Hyderabad, named top Maoist leaders Gajarla Ravi alias Uday, secretary of Andhra Odisha Border Special Zonal Committee (AOBSZC), Aruna and as well as Devendra, Swapna and Shilpa as key accused in the case. “A scheduled offence under the NIA Act has been committed with ramifications on national security,” said the NIA in the FIR.
The ministry of home affairs on May 31 issued orders to take over the case from Peddabayulu police. The initial FIR was registered by Peddabayaulu police in January this year. In the police FIR, it was alleged that “CMS members visit colleges, schools and hostels and deliver lectures to poor women on empowerment assuring that they will provide employment and induce them to join the Maoist party.”
