Ngt Seeks T Report On Sports Village Violations | Hyderabad News

HYDERABAD: The National Green Tribunal (NGT) has issued orders to state government to submit a report on Oro Sports Village in Gandipet, which is allegedly built in violation of full tank level (FTL) at Osman Sagar reservoir.
NGT bench said: “From the photos and satellite images, it appears Oro Sports Village was constructed within the FTL limits of Osman Sagar. If it has exceeded construction in an area of more than 20,000 square metres, the report has to mention whether environmental clearance was obtained from the state-level environment impact assessment authority.”
The NGT bench issued the orders after lake activist Lubna Sarwath filed a petition. It said the report will have to mention whether consent has been obtained from Pollution Control Board. “The report must furnish details about encroachments and the action taken to remove them,” NGT said. It posted the case for further hearing to January 9. The petitioner demanded that all encroachments at Osman Sagar and Himayath Sagar be removed. “We had earlier represented the matter to HMWSSB, but our pleas have fallen on the deaf ears ,” she said.
“We pray for eviction of Sports Village from the FTL of the drinking water reservoir and restoration of inflow channels from Vattinagulapally and other inflow channels of Osman Sagar so that rainwater continues to replenish the reservoir,” she said.
