Mercedes driver rams into bike, kills pillion rider in Hyderabad’s Gachibowli area | Hyderabad News
HYDERABAD: A 26-year-old businessman was booked for murder after he deliberately rammed his Mercedes Benz into two motorcycles, in Hyderabad’s upscale Gachibowli area.
The incident left one dead and three injured. While the incident took place around 1.30am on Monday, it came to light after one of the victims — Maria Mir — succumbed to her injuries subsequently. Her post-mortem examination was conducted on Wednesday.
Based on a complaint filed by her husband, Syed Saifuddin Javed , Raidurgam police arrested the accused, Rajasimha Reddy, a resident of Jubilee Hills and booked him under Section 302 (murder) in addition to Section 307 (attempt to murder) of the IPC. The accused is involved with his father’s real estate business.
Erragadda residents Saifuddin (31) and Maria (25) got married about two years ago and have an 8-month-old.
Hours before the incident, the IT professional and his wife had set out for a joy ride on the Durgam Cheruvu cable bridge. They were accompanied by Saifuddin’s brother and cousin on another two-wheeler. On reaching Anjaiah Nagar they found the stretch overflowing with sewage and slowed down to avoid the mucky water. But just then, a luxury car driven by Rajasimha sped past, splashing it all over them.
Flustered, when Saifuddin’s brothers, Minhajuddin and Misbahuddin, went up to confront the driver, the accused revved up his engine, hit their bike and sped away. The two fell and suffered minor bruises. On seeing this, Saifuddin and Maria started to chase the car. When they overtook it and tried to stop the accused, he repeated his act and drove the Benz right into their vehicle.
“He did it intentionally and as a result the couple fell off the bike. Unfortunately, Maria suffered a head injury that led to excessive bleeding. She was shifted to a local private hospital where she succumbed while undergoing treatment on December 20,” Raidurgam inspector, M Mahesh said. While they had initially booked Rajasimha under Section 307 (attempt to murder) of IPC, they added Section 302 (murder) after Maria’s death.
“Based on the vehicle details furnished by the complainant, we first tracked down the vehicle owner who in turn told us that his relative, Rajasimha Reddy, was using it that night,” the police official said confirming that the accused was not drunk at the time of accident and that he was heading to a friend’s place when it happened.
