Man tries to kill daughter for talking to friends over phone in Andhra Pradesh’s Guntur | Vijayawada News


VIJAYAWADA: A 48-year-old man attempted to kill his daughter (15) under the influence of alcohol while the latter was speaking to her friends over the phone in Edlapadu of Andhra Pradesh’s Guntur district.
The father thrashed the girl and shoved her from the building on Wednesday.
The incident came to light on Friday.
The condition of the girl, who is undergoing treatment at Guntur Government General Hospital (GGH), is said to be critical.
P Rambabu, SI, Edlapadu told TOI that the girl has been identified as Kurakula Kavya, an intermediate first-year student at a private college in Ganapavaram in the district.
On Wednesday, after Kavya returned home from the college at 4:30pm, she was talking to her friends over the phone.
Kavya’s father Vara Prasad (48), who returned home under the influence of alcohol, noticed his daughter who was on the phone.
Prasad scolded her in filthy language and brutally thrashed her asking with whom she was talking over the phone.
The panicked girl tried to escape from her father and ran out of the house.
However, Prasad followed her and caught her on the terrace of the neighbor’s building.
He again thrashed her there and shoved her from the top of the building holding her neck.
Due to which, Kavya sustained severe bleeding injuries over her head and other body parts and lost consciousness.
She was rushed to the GGH.
Upon receipt of the complaint from the mother, Edlapadu Police registered a case and arrested the accused.
