Major fire guts godown in Hyderabad’s Chikkadpally, no casualty | Hyderabad News
HYDERABAD: A major fire broke out at a warehouse containing decor materials in Chikkadpally early on Thursday morning. Thirteen fire tenders and around 50 firemen from across the city battled the blaze for over five hours before it was brought under control around 11.30am. No one was hurt and officials are yet to pinpoint the cause of fire. Two other shops were gutted in the fire.
The fire department received a call around 5.45 am from the staff in the warehouse owned by MS Decoration Work. Officials said there were no fire extinguishers or any other safety equipment at the premises, and workers were throwing water to put out the flames.
Initially, only one fire tender from Musheerabad reached the spot. But as the fire had already spread throughout the warehouse, they called for backup. By the time the fire was brought under control, the shop was gutted. Two neighbouring shops too were destroyed. Officials said they are yet to ascertain the full extent of property damage, but pegged it to be above Rs 50 lakh. “The cause of fire is suspected to be electrical. A full investigation will be done on Friday,” Musheerabad fire officer G Venkateshwar told TOI.
