HYDERABAD: Ahead of the Centre presenting its Union budget for the 2023-2024 in the next two weeks, Telangana industries and IT minister KT Rama Rao sought budgetary support for various industrial projects in Telangana.

In a letter to Union finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Saturday, the Telangana minister said the BJP government at the Centre had made several promises to Telangana in the past and the union budget is the right occasion to show its commitments towards Telangana’s development.
“The state government sought Centre’s financial support several times in the past, but it did not get sufficient funds in the previous eight union budgets introduced by the BJP government,” KTR said.
The IT and industries minister asked the Centre to consider funding for external infrastructure development at NIMZ, Zaheerabad which is at least Rs 500 crore funding out of the total estimate of Rs. 9,500 crore.
Similarly, Rs 2,500 crore budgetary support for development of Hyderabad–Warangal industrial corridor and Hyderabad-Nagpur industrial corridor. This amount is required to join two nodes of Hyderabad Pharma City and NIMZ Zaheerabad. Along with this Rs 1,500 crore for development of Hyderabad–Vijayawada industrial corridor and to newly identified Hyderabad, Jadcherla, Gadwal, Kothakota nodes.
He said the Centre should grant funds for establishing a Common Effluent Treatment Plant (CETP) in Jadcharla Industrial Park under TIES scheme and gas allotment for the same, consider and sanction and upgradation of Brownfield Manufacturing Clusters, reopening of Cement Corporation of India (CCI) in Adilabad and inclusion of inclusion of Hyderabad in the proposed Defence Industrial Production corridor and support for development of Kakatiya Mega Textile Park as there is a possibility of extending Rs. 500 crore as capital and announcement of Rs 300 Crores fund support in this budget.
He said if the Centre truly believes in the slogans – Make in India, Aatmanirbhar Bharat, then support has to be extended to progressive states like Telangana, which is filled with the potential to actualize those slogans, KTR said in his letter. The minister said that the state government had created world-class infrastructure to meet the needs of industries and attract more investments. As part of it, KTR said, India’s largest textile park, world’s largest single pharma cluster- Hyderabad Pharma City are being established. He said that the industrial parks would usher in development of not only the state, but in the entire country.
