Journey towards ‘bangaru Telangana’ will continue: BRS government | Hyderabad News

HYDERABAD: Claiming that whatever Telangana has achieved in the last eight years is a testimony to the visionary approach of chief minister KCR, the BRS government said the journey towards making the state a ‘bangaru (golden) Telangana’ will continue relentlessly.
The government said efforts were being made for comprehensive development of the state by implementing new schemes which were not part ofelection manifesto. “Many schemes and developmental models are implemented by other states now,” the state government said as it unveiled the progress report ahead of the New Year.

In a short span, the government has transformed the state, CMO said on Saturday. Asserting that welfare schemes are paying the dividends, the government said welfare of downtrodden, elderly people, widows, disabled, toddy tappers, weavers, beedi workers, AIDS patients, elderly artistes, dialysis patients and others has been taken care of by extending Aasara pensions, KCR Kits, Kalyana Lakshmi and other schemes.
It said before Telangana was formed, agriculture was rain-fed. “As soon as the government was formed, the first priority was to repair dams and ponds. Mission Kakatiya has taken care of the chain ponds of the Kakatiyas,” the CM said.
The government also constructed the world’s largest lift irrigation scheme, Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project, CMO said. The agricultural sector has become ideal for the farmers of the entire country. Groundwater table has increased greatly and Telangana is flourishing with green fields thanks to irrigated water for the agriculture sector.
The government claimed supplying 24×7 power to the agriculture sector free of cost. Another initiative was the launch of Dalit Bandhu scheme which, the government claimed, has never been taken up before in the country, to help Dalits.
The `10 lakh provided by the government through Dalit Bandhu is a social investment and turns them into entrepreneurs and businessmen, it said. To improve green cover in the state, the government launched Haritha Haram scheme. 9.65 lakh acres of forests had been restored at a cost of `9,943 crore.
