In Hyderabad stone crusher machines vanish, manhunt for FRO | Hyderabad News

HYDERABAD: Cyberabad police have registered a criminal case against forest range officer Ghazi Kamaluddin for colluding with a scrap vendor and misappropriating the property of a businessman, which is presently under the forest department‘s custody. Cops launched a manhunt for the accused FRO, while the scrap vendor and his two associates were arrested on Friday.
Kadthal police said Kamaluddin, who is in-charge FRO of Amangal division, conspired with Kurmaiah of Kollapur and stole stone crusher unit machinery belonging to Gajraj Jain, who was operating it in Maisigandi village.

Kurmaiah and his associates, Laxman and Devula, used gas-cutters to cut the machinery parts and disposed them of at an iron company in Kothur. “In the last one month alone, the accused sold stone crusher machinery worth Rs 24 lakh at Rs 34 a kilo. From the sale proceeds, Kurmaiah paid Rs 7.5 lakh in cash and sent Rs 50,000 online to Kamaluddin,” Shamshabad DCP R Jagadishwar Reddy said.
Kadthal police launched a probe after Gajraj Jain lodged a complaint that machinery in his unit had gone missing. During the investigation, police stumbled upon Kurmaiah’s role. Cops also gathered phone call details of the accused and CCTV footage to prove that Kurmaiah was in touch with Kamaluddin. Police seized Rs 13 lakh cash from the accused and launched a manhunt to nab Kamaluddin, who is absconding.
Kurmaiah, Laxman and Devula were arrested and a case was slapped under IPC sections, including cheating and criminal breach of trust, and the Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act, 1984. The accused have been remanded in judicial custody.
Police said following the HC’s orders in 2006, the stone crushing unit’s operations were stopped after a dispute arose between Jain and forest department on the ownership of land. In its order, the court directed the forest department to safeguard stone crusher unit. Forest department then dug up a trench around the property to safeguard the machinery.
