Hyderabad RPO sets rare record by issuing passport to 9-day-old baby, within an hour | Hyderabad News
HYDERABAD: A 9-day-old infant got a passport under ‘Tatkal’ scheme to fly to London for liver transplantation.
The Regional Passport Officer (RPO), Hyderabad, Dasari Balaiah, was granted this passport and then handed over a printed passport, to the parents’ of this baby girl, within an hour. This incident came to light after RPO revealed the facts to the media, here.
Describing this, the RPO said, “This incident could be the first one in the history of Hyderabad Regional Passport.” Our passport staff issued a passport to a new born baby, which was needed in a real health emergency, in a record time,” RPO Balaiah said proudly.
Explaining the incident, the RPO said that based on the doctors’ advice to undergo emergency liver transplantation surgery at the earliest in London, the baby’s parents have approached the RPO, Secunderabad office, and urged to issue a passport under tatkal scheme, on emergency.
Considering the baby’s parents’ plea as a serious note and processed the passport application swiftly. Based on the details submitted by the parents, we have checked and granted the passport and delivered it to them within an hour, added RPO. In fact, the passport staff acted swiftly and issued the passport in a super quick time, to the baby girl to save her life,” added Dasari Balaiah.
Referring to the Indian Passport Rules and Regulations, highly placed sources of the RPO, did not share the details of the baby. However, sources shared basic info and said “she is a nine-day old girl child and born in a private hospital in the city. Parents of this baby are also residents of the city.
”In the last week, the parents visited the RPO Secunderabad office along with medical reports, regarding liver transplantation to the baby and urged to issue the passport and accordingly, we have considered it an emergency health case, ” said sources to a query.
