Hyderabad Rape Case: Hyderabad Rape Case: Minor gang-raped by five at birthday party in Hyderabad | Hyderabad News

HYDERABAD: Five men allegedly gang-raped a 15-year-old tribal girl after giving her a soft drink mixed with alcohol at a birthday party in Chatrinaka last week. Apart from the five accused – aged between 18 and 21 – a 16-year-old girl and her boyfriend present at the party were also arrested for abetting the offence.
The victim, a school dropout, lives with her mother, a labourer, who had deserted her husband and moved in with another worker from Chatrinaka about five years ago.
On February 4 night, she first went out to get medicines for her mother. Later, when she stepped out again, she was met by the 16-year-old girl from her neighbourhood who persuaded her to come to a friend’s place at Bhoiguda for a birthday party, police said.
In her complaint, the minor alleged that after the 16-year-old neighbour went into another room with her boyfriend, the remaining men began misbehaving with her. When she resisted their advances, they offered her a soft drink mixed with alcohol.
After the girl got drunk, the five accused took turns to rape her,” Falaknuma ACP Sk Jahangir said, adding that they had kept the music loud to ensure that neighbours would not hear any noise in case the girl screamed. The minor returned home around 3am the next morning, slept for a while and narrated her ordeal to her mother when she woke up. Both then approached Chatrinaka Police. In the presence of women cops, the girl’s statement was recorded and she was sent for medical examination. Police registered a gang rape case under sections 341, 342, 323, 376-G r/w 109 of the IPC, section 5 r/w 6 of the Pocso Act and Section 3(1) of the SC&ST (POA) Act. Of the seven accused, three men and the girl are SCs, while the other three men are from BC communities. The six men, who do petty jobs, were remanded in judicial custody, while the 16-year-old girl was sent to a juvenile home on Tuesday.
(The victim’s identity has not been revealed to protect her privacy as per Supreme court directives on cases related to sexual assault)
